Wrapping up a productive 2024!
NEW YEARS UPDATE: Wastewater Wednesdays!
On the first day of 2025, a Wastewater Wednesday, we are full of gratitude and joy for the progress and updates that the last year has brought for the new FPUA sewer treatment plant being built on Energy Lane. And as we finish off a very productive 2024, we take stock of all the success and progress we’ve made bringing the plant to life!
Despite the wild weather this year and some minor delays, construction remains both on schedule and on-budget, with 50% of the substantial construction work behind us and the majority of the plant’s structures and buildings started or complete.
We look forward to finishing strong in 2025, bringing initial flows and commissioning of the new plant by December, just one year away!
We have also been honored to receive support from our local, state, and federal representatives, including critically important grant funding from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Resilient Florida program which will also be supporting upcoming phases of this major project. As we enter the new year, we extend great thanks to those funders, policymakers, and local leaders for recognizing the value of this critically important local project for Fort Pierce and the Indian River Lagoon.
As always, we’d like to thank all of our partners, contractors, vendors, and crews who are helping us deliver this important project to our customers! FPUA is grateful for this project with industry leaders Globaltech, Inc., Haskell and Hazen, the site designers and build team; TLC Diversified, Inc., re-routing the conveyance system to redirect wastewater flows away from the Indian River Lagoon; Kimley-Horn, the conveyance system designers, and the sub-contractors working so hard to keep this project safe and on schedule.
We are also thankful for the partnership with the City of Fort Pierce in this infrastructure improvement effort that will benefit the Fort Pierce community for generations.
