Final interior finishing of the reclaim storage tank

NEW UPDATE PHOTOS: Wastewater Wednesdays!

Last week, along with project updates, we shared about FPUA’s Citizen-Led Utility Advisory Committee hosting a public meeting on relocating the sewer treatment plant. The FPUA Team met with 30 residents interested in learning first-hand about this project that will improve the health and well-being of Fort Pierce Residents, protect the environment and conserve water from the Floridan aquifer. The volunteers on the UAC Board are a vital link to educating and informing the Fort Pierce community of FPUA activities, and providing community-based feedback to the FPUA Board of Directors.

This week, we can see the final interior finishing of the reclaim storage tank as the project manager and site engineer conduct final inspections before the tank is leak-tested and painted. When operational, this tank will provide nearly two million gallons of water per day to the Treasure Coast Energy Center for cooling its natural gas turbines producing electricity. We can also see the final stretch of the Nereda basin wall pours coming together - With only one more pour left before the perimeter walls are complete!

FPUA is grateful for this project with industry leaders Globaltech, Inc. ;

Haskell and Hazen, the site designers; TLC Diversified, Inc., constructing the Systematic Wastewater Conveyance Redirection project re-routing flows away from the Indian River Lagoon; Kimley-Horn, the conveyance system designers, and the sub-contractors working so hard to keep this project on schedule. We are also thankful for the partnership with the City of Fort Pierce and St. Lucie County in this infrastructure improvement effort that will benefit the Fort Pierce community for generations.
