Significant progress on Nereda Basin site
NEW UPDATE PHOTOS: Wastewater Wednesdays!
Last week’s photos highlighted the progress at the Water Reclamation Facility, showcasing advancements on storage tanks, Chlorine Contact Chambers, and deep injection well piping.
This week, significant progress continues at the Nereda basin site. With the trough systems nearing completion, detailed views of the internal structure are now visible. The sludge buffer tank is also in its final stages, with walkways and plumbing nearing completion for optimized access. This week marked the successful foundation slab pour for the equalization tank, preparing it for fiberglass wall panel installation. The 42" ductile iron pipe, an essential component directing raw sewage to the Nereda basins for advanced treatment, is now being installed. Additionally, the O&M building moves forward with second-floor decking and masonry work set for the coming weeks.
FPUA is grateful for this project with industry leaders Globaltech, Inc., Haskell and Hazen, the site designers and build team; TLC Diversified, Inc., re-routing the conveyance system to redirect wastewater flows away from the Indian River Lagoon; Kimley-Horn, the conveyance system designers, and the sub-contractors working so hard to keep this project safe and on schedule.
We are also thankful for the partnership with the City of Fort Pierce in this infrastructure improvement effort that will benefit the Fort Pierce community for generations.
