Chlorine contact chamber reaching its final wall pour

NEW UPDATE: Wastewater Wednesdays!

Work continues to advance across the project, bringing us closer to major milestones in our wastewater treatment facility upgrades.

Last week, major progress was made with the completion of structural pours at the main electrical and blower buildings, paving the way for masonry work. At the Nereda basins, crews installed essential pipe supports, while groundwork at the deep injection well pad was finalized, preparing for pump installation.

This week, exciting developments are taking shape. At the Nereda basins, crews are making significant progress on the pipe support structure, a crucial step in delivering process air and electronic control to each reactor. Inside the Operations & Maintenance building, second-floor roof bar joists are being installed, and framing is underway for channel floor drains in the future maintenance bays. Meanwhile, the chlorine contact chamber is reaching a major milestone with its final wall pour. Once completed, crews will begin installing the catwalk and staircase steel, ensuring safe and efficient access for operations teams.

In addition to construction progress, we had the opportunity to host staff and engineers from Manatee County for a site tour, providing them with a closer look at our advanced treatment process and project innovations. As we move forward, we remain committed to keeping our community informed and engaged in this critical infrastructure project. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue building a more efficient and sustainable future!

As always, we’d like to thank all of our partners, contractors, vendors, and crews who are helping us deliver this important project to our customers! FPUA is grateful for this project with industry leaders Globaltech, Inc., Haskell and Hazen, the site designers and build team; TLC Diversified, Inc., re-routing the conveyance system to redirect wastewater flows away from the Indian River Lagoon; Kimley-Horn, the conveyance system designers, and the sub-contractors working so hard to keep this project safe and on schedule.

We are also thankful for the partnership with the City of Fort Pierce in this infrastructure improvement effort that will benefit the Fort Pierce community for generations.
