Chlorine contact chamber final wall pours complete by end of month
NEW UPDATE: Wastewater Wednesdays!
Construction at the MWRF site continues to advance impressively. Last week, work on the O&M building saw significant milestones, including rapid progress on interior wall framing and the installation of the second-floor access staircase. The blower building also saw completion of footer work, with foundation preparations progressing steadily. Meanwhile, the Nereda basins moved closer to the next project phase with concrete finishing nearing completion.
This week, the chlorine contact chamber construction is on track, with final wall pours scheduled by month-end. Inside the O&M building, substantial progress continues with interior framing and plumbing moving forward on the first floor, while the second floor now has electrical rough-in and clearly defined spaces. HVAC ductwork installation has begun, with lighting fixture installations planned for next week.
Recently, newly elected city and county commissioners participated in a site tour where they received a detailed briefing on the project's scope, progress milestones, and key infrastructure enhancements. The visit offered valuable insights into the project's long-term community benefits, including improved wastewater treatment capacity, enhanced environmental sustainability, and greater resilience to future demands.
As always, we’d like to thank all of our partners, contractors, vendors, and crews who are helping us deliver this important project to our customers! FPUA is grateful for this project with industry leaders Globaltech, Inc., Haskell and Hazen, the site designers and build team; TLC Diversified, Inc., re-routing the conveyance system to redirect wastewater flows away from the Indian River Lagoon; Kimley-Horn, the conveyance system designers, and the sub-contractors working so hard to keep this project safe and on schedule.
We are also thankful for the partnership with the City of Fort Pierce in this infrastructure improvement effort that will benefit the Fort Pierce community for generations.
